What to Expect...
Rugby Avenue Church of Christ
|
What should you expect?
If you attend church regularly or rarely you are welcome to come worship with us at Rugby
Avenue Church of Christ. We will be glad to have you. We understand it can always be a little
intimidating when you visit a new church because you don't know what exactly to expect.
Overall we are a traditional and conservative church. You will find our members come in both
casual and dress for Sunday worship. You are welcome to come however you feel
comfortable.
Come down Rugby Avenue until
you spot our building on the right.
When the parking lot fills up there
is usually still plenty of parking on
both sides of the street.
Come in through the front doors and
you will see our lobby area.
As you enter the lobby please feel free
to sign in the guest book. If you have
infants with you the cry room is straight
ahead; while the large double doors go
in the auditorium. Most of the Sunday
school classes are on your right up
stairs, or downstairs.
If you are one of those who like to
sneak in late thats OK. You can spy
out your seat before you enter the
auditorium. Typical Sunday morning
attendance is in the 130 range.
During our Sunday Morning worship
service we have an attended nursery.
Hanging in the hallway we also have
several "quiet boxes" with books and
toys to entertain the little ones.
We currently have several different
Sunday school classes including 4&5
year olds, 1st&2nd grades, 3rd-5th
grades, Junior High, High School,
University, and Adult.
Sunday school starts at 10 AM on
Sunday and we have mid-week Bible
study on Wednesday at 7pm.
A typical worship service lasts an hour.
We will have about six congregational
songs. We use song books and sing
acapella (without instruments). You
won't find and any dancing in the isles
in our traditional service.
Every Sunday, we partake of the
Lord's Supper (communion). Stay
seated as the ushers will serve you.
We do take a collection; but as a guest
you are not expected to contribute.
Our preacher, Larry Macomber, gives a 30
minute lesson right from the scripture. We
use the Bible as our sole source for all our
practices. While it is true we are an
traditional, independent, fundamental,
non-denominational church lets not get into
name calling. More importantly we are just a
group of Christians who come together to
worship and praise God for all he has done
for us in the spirit of the first century church.
About once a month in the
summer or the first and third
Wednesday of each month in the
winter we will have a fellowship
meal. If you happen to join us on
one of those occasions please
stay for some great food.
Thank you so much for checking out our services. We hope you will attend and
stick around for a little so we can get to know you. If you have any questions about
anything we do please feel free to ask us.
